Sammy Nampaso

My name is Sammy Nampaso, hailing from Narok County, the proud home of the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. Fond memories flood back from my childhood days when my uncle, employed as a driver guide at a camp, would often whisk us away to the reserve during school breaks. The mere hour’s drive from our home made these adventures easily accessible.

Those formative experiences ignited a passion within me for the wilderness and its inhabitants. Upon completing my secondary education, I made a conscious decision to pursue a career akin to my uncle’s. Enrolling at the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya College, I dedicated myself to the study of wildlife and guiding techniques. Two years of diligent study culminated in my graduation, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for the role.

For the past nine years, I’ve immersed myself in the role of a guide, relishing every moment spent amidst nature’s wonders. Each day unfolds as a new chapter of discovery and enlightenment. Beyond the natural world, this profession has gifted me with invaluable connections, fostering friendships with individuals from diverse corners of the globe. Through these interactions, I’ve gained profound insights into various cultures, enriching my perspective on life.

Leading safaris, particularly photography excursions, epitomizes the pinnacle of fulfillment in my career. To witness the awe and wonder reflected in the eyes of travelers as they capture nature’s beauty through their lenses is a privilege beyond compare. Indeed, guiding isn’t merely a job; it’s a calling—a journey of perpetual wonder and enrichment.
