Nairobi is filled with treasures like the beautiful area of Karen. Arriving a few days early gets the heart-stirring and the creative juices flowing and allows you to rest before the exciting safari ahead.

The stunning area of Karen that has many wonderful activities is filled with great accommodations from quaint B&Bs reminiscent of the days of “Out of Africa” to sheik high-end luxury with butlers along with many tasty trendy and unique restaurants.

Nairobi has a wildlife park right in the middle of the city. It borders the Karen area and is home to lion, leopard, rhino, zebra, and giraffe, including loads of antelope and bird species. Images of beautiful wildlife against the cityscape have become iconic on a visit to Kenya.

In the heart of the Karen area, you can have an intimate visit with the Rothschild giraffe at the giraffe center and/or have an intimate visit with the baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Orphanage. Both are places where you can learn about the great conservation work they are doing.
