Sprawling on the edge of the Northern Kenyan Frontier, stretching from the slopes of Mount Kenya to the rim of the Great Rift Valley, is the Laikipia Plateau. A natural haven made up of conservancies, making a huge effort to create a place for communities and wildlife to exist hand in hand while protecting biodiversity in the region.

This area is home to multiple species such as the gravy and plains zebra; reticulated, Maasai and Rothschild giraffe; striped and spotted hyena; helmeted and vulturine guineafowl; the very RARE black leopard and packs of wild dogs. These conservancies are also a protective haven for the endangered black rhino.

This area is a photographer’s paradise due to the low density of vehicles in the private conservancies. Most allow respectful off-road driving and some allow night game drives. The beauty and diversity of species in this region simply cannot be beaten or missed.

One can also learn about groundbreaking conservation, and track rhinos, lions and other animals side by side with the researchers. This area is also fantastic for adventure activities such as horseback riding, camel, helicopter, and walking safaris.
